05 — Bag Tags
The horror bag tag system — how rarity tiers work, how tags are unlocked in-round, how to equip one, and what The Haunting actually requires of you.
Ghost Card has 30 collectible bag tags, each referencing a horror film archetype, trope, or specific cinematic moment. Tags are earned exclusively through gameplay — unlocked by specific in-round conditions. They cannot be purchased, gifted, or granted through any mechanism other than doing the thing that unlocks them.
The tone is A24, not Spirit Halloween. The tags reference real cinema. They have custom SVG illustrations. They take the genre seriously, which is exactly why they're worth earning.
Account required
Bag tags require a signed-in account to unlock and store. Tags earned during a guest session are lost when the session ends. Create an account before you try for The Wraith — it only appears once.
All 30 tags fall into one of four rarity tiers:
Rarity reflects difficulty to unlock, not arbitrary scarcity. There's no random drop rate. Every tag has a specific, deterministic condition — you either met it or you didn't.
All tags unlock automatically during or after a round when their conditions are met. You don't need to track or claim them — the app recognizes the condition and adds the tag to your collection. You'll see a notification when a tag unlocks.
Unlock conditions include things like: shooting a specific score on a specific hole number, achieving a run of birdies, completing a round under certain circumstances, playing at unusual times of day, finishing above or below a ghost opponent, and community contributions like par corrections.
The conditions are not published in-app. This is intentional. Figuring out what unlocks a tag is part of the experience. The ghosts know. They just won't tell you directly.
The remaining 21 tags follow similar patterns — specific conditions tied to performance, timing, round composition, or community activity. Explore the Bag Tags tab in-app to see which ones you've unlocked and which remain locked.
The Bone Collector is one of the three legendary tags and the only one tied entirely to community contribution rather than in-round performance. Submit 5 valid par corrections to Supabase — across any courses, at any point — and the tag unlocks automatically.
The app tracks your correction count. It doesn't reset. Corrections from any round count, not just recent ones. If you've already submitted 3 and submit 2 more, the tag triggers on the 5th.
See the full process in Community Par Corrections.
Once unlocked, tags appear in your collection in the Bag Tags tab. Tap any unlocked tag to set it as your active (equipped) tag. Your active tag displays on your profile and appears as a badge on your round history entries.
You can only equip one tag at a time. Switching your equipped tag is free and unlimited — swap it whenever you want. Equipping is display only; it doesn't change unlock conditions or grant any other advantage. It just tells everyone what you've done.
